Winehouse arrested for drugs in Norway

October 19, 2007

Bergen, Norway - Singer/druggie Amy Winehouse and her enabler husband were arrested for marijuana possession in Norway.

Singer/druggie Amy Winehouse and her enabler husband were arrested for marijuana possession in Norway.

Winehouse was arrested in her Bergen hotel room along with her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, and one other person, prosecutor Lars Morten Lothe said Friday. He said the arrest came after a tip-off to police.

Lothe said Winehouse was arrested at 6 p.m. Thursday for possession of seven grams (a-quarter of an ounce) of marijuana. She was fined 500 euros ($714), after which she was released, Lothe said.

Authorities say, with the fines paid, they consider the case closed.

Winehouse -- known for a string of R&B hits including "Rehab" -- was scheduled to perform in in Norway Friday and Saturday before continuing her tour Monday in the Netherlands.

Winehouse rocketed to fame this year with her acclaimed album "Back to Black," but her celebrity has also been fueled by her tabloid image.

The Londoner has publicly battled drugs and alcohol, and her hit single "Rehab" relates her resistance to being pushed to go to rehab: "They tried to make me go to rehab, but I said no, no, no."
