A poll released today shows Democratic candidate Ethan Berkowitz 10 points up over Don Young in the upcoming U.S. House race.

A poll released today shows Democratic candidate Ethan Berkowitz 10 points up over Don Young in the upcoming U.S. House race.

Research 2000, a nonpartisan polling firm in Maryland , conducted the poll. The full poll is available here at dailykos.com.

The poll was conducted May 12-14, surveying 600 randomly selected Alaskans who are likely voters in the November general election. The margin for error is 4 percent or less.

"These results say that Alaskans are ready for new direction, new energy and new ideas. We're going to keep listening to Alaskans and working hard," Berkowitz said.

Tonight, Berkowitz will address graduating students at Wasilla High School . Graduation ceremonies begin at 7 p.m. at the Wasilla Sports Complex, 1001 S Mack Drive .

From 1991 to 1993, Berkowitz worked as a state prosecutor in Anchorage and rural Alaska . He served in the Alaska State Legislature for ten years beginning in 1996. After his first term in office, Berkowitz was chosen by his peers to lead the House Democrats, a position he held for eight years. In 2006, Berkowitz was the Alaska Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor. Most recently, Berkowitz has been working on affordable energy projects for Alaskan families.
