McCain Campaign Says It Will Continue to Ignore Alaska

From a Alaska Democratic Party press release:

Sen. John McCain's decision not to open a campaign office in Alaska calls into question his commitment to Alaska voters and Alaska issues.

John McCain's decision not to open a campaign office in Alaska calls into question his commitment to Alaska voters and Alaska issues.

"John McCain is clearly taking Alaskans' votes for granted," said Kay Brown, spokeswoman for the Alaska Democratic Party. "The Obama campaign is investing in Alaska because Senator Obama wants to bring into the process Alaskans who have been left out by politics-as-usual".

"John McCain, on the other hand, expects to ignore Alaskans and their issues and still carry the state. His continued snubbing of Alaska isn't really a surprise: John McCain has been ignoring Alaska throughout his long career in Washington."

The Anchorage Daily News reported this morning that "The McCain campaign has said it doesn't expect to open an office in Alaska and does not consider it among the 'top tier' of target states to spend resources on. However, a McCain spokeswoman said she was confident he would do well here." [Anchorage Daily News, 7/18/2008]
