A truck laden with 25 tons of dynamite exploded Monday in Monclova, Mexico, injuring more than 140 and killing at least 30 people.

Mexico's official news agency, Notimax, reported at least 30 were killed in the blast at a factory site near Monclova -- about 125 miles northwest of Monterrey. Three Mexican reporters at the scene were among those killed, according to Notimax.

The blast caused damage to buildings and vehicles and was said to have left a deep crater on the ground.

The truck exploded after crashing into a van, the authorities said.

Video of the scene showed the burned-out, mangled shell of the truck and several nearby cars damaged by the impact of the blast.

Of the 140 injured, 30 suffered critical wounds and five are listed in extremely critical condition, David Aguisn, spokesman for Governor Humberto Moreira said.

The cause of the blast is under investigation, but Aguisn said that there is no indication of foul play.
