Dodd says mistake "to be adding more troops"

Concord, NH - Senator Chris Dodd told an Iowa newspaper that it's time for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq.

The Connecticut Democrat wrote in The Des Moines Register: "The time has come for the United States to begin the process of getting our troops out of Iraq."

In the column, he says the US strategy in Iraq makes no sense and the situation is as bad in person as it appears on television.

The senator said in order to create stability in Iraq, "the job isn't to go to garden spots" it is to go to "hot spots."

"I believe it will be a mistake for us at this juncture to be adding more troops," he told ABC in a television interview. "I don't see any mission associated with this. It sounds to me like a tactic in search of a strategy."
