A male suspect is on the loose, police said.

The two guards died from gunshot wounds.

The third guard, who was grazed by a bullet, was reported in stable condition.

The robbery attempt happened shortly after 8 a.m. near the Roosevelt Mall in northeastern Philadelphia.

Entrances to and from the mall parking lot were shut down, The Associated Press reported.

Police were stopping cars leaving the area, the AP said.

Police found a black bag filled with cash behind an off-track betting parlor near the bank, police Officer Raul Malveiro told the AP.
