HB281 - extending the statute of limitations

House republicans Bob Lynn and Carl Gatto's HB281, "An Act extending the statute of limitations for the filing of complaints with the Alaska Public Offices Commission involving state election campaigns," got a working over in Rep. Jay Ramras' Judiciary Committee Friday.

House republicans Bob Lynn and Carl Gatto's HB281, An Act extending the statute of limitations for the filing of complaints with the Alaska Public Offices Commission involving state election campaigns.

Fellow Fairbanks Republicans John Coghill and Jay Ramras with some help from Ralph Samuels of Anchorage picked and pawed the bill and have decided to do a Committee Substitute and remove the parts of the bill that bother them most. Ramras said he didn't want to be, "too reactive, too quickly to current circumstances," referring to the the recent corruption scandal and "tinkering" with the APOC process. Ramras also said, "I don't want to participate in having rules for the witch hunt."
