Tony Rezko, the man tied to Barack Obama, was arrested early Monday at his Chicago home by federal agents on an alleged bond violation.

Rezko, former friend and fundraiser of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama, is scheduled to stand trial this month on charges of fraud, attempted extortion and money laundering.

Obama closed a real-estate deal in 2005 with Rezko's wife while the families lived next to each other. Obama paid Rezko's wife a price substantially lower than market value for an adjoining parcel.

Rezko is scheduled to stand trial on corruption charges in less than a month.

FBI spokesman, Tom Simon, said a bond revocation hearing was continued until 12:30 p.m.

"We can confirm that Tony Rezko was arrested without incident this morning at his home in Wilmette," Simon said.
