Not a trace has been found of two female backpackers gone missing inside Alaska's Denali National Park for three days.

Not a trace has been found of two female backpackers gone missing in Denali National Park for three days.

Denali park workers Abby Flantz, 25, of Gaylord, Minnesota and Erica Nelson, 23, of Las Vegas, Nevada, departed on Thursday and were reported overdue on Saturday when they didn't show up for work at a resort hotel.

More than 40 volunteers are involved in the ground search along with two helicopters and an airplane.

"It doesn't look good at this point," search member Alice Rindell told AlaskaReport by phone from the park's headquarters.

"We've gone over the area hard and have yet to see any trace of the two girls." The two women were last seen at the Savage River checkpoint only 15-miles from park headquarters.

The weather in Denali has been overcast with clouds obscuring the Savage River area. The search continues Tuesday with both ground and air support and has expanded to cover 100 squares miles both in the low terrain next to the river and higher elevations.
