Babyshambles singer Pete Doherty claimss he has been drug-free for seven weeks.

"In the last eight years, I've never been that long without drugs."

- Troubled British rocker Pete Doherty says he has been drug-free for seven weeks, the BBC reported.

The Babyshambles front-man has admitted to driving while in possession of crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis in Kensington last spring.

A judge postponed sentencing him to give him the chance to deal with his addiction.

Doherty spent six weeks in rehab and is due back at West London's Magistrates' Court Oct. 26.

In an interview for BBC Radio 4's Front Row program, Doherty said he felt he had reached a "turning point" in his battle with addiction and revealed he has also reconciled with his estranged father after three years.

"In the last eight years, I've never been that long without drugs," he said. "I'm not going to lie and say it's not a struggle, because it is. But in a way, I'm quite proud to be able to admit it, particularly for my mum and dad. I'm quietly confident, but there's an underdog feeling about it still. These last few months have been a turning point."
