The Arctic Monkeys picked up the prizes for British Group and British Album for their "Favourite Worst Nightmare" disc, while the U.S. rock band Foo Fighters took home the awards for International Album and International Group.

LONDON -- Rock 'n' roll icon Paul McCartney was honored for Outstanding Contribution to Music at the Brit Awards presentation in London.

McCartney and troubled British singer Amy Winehouse also performed separately at the show, which took place Wednesday night at the Earls Court arena.

The Arctic Monkeys picked up the prizes for British Group and British Album for their "Favourite Worst Nightmare" disc, while the U.S. rock band Foo Fighters took home the awards for International Album and International Group.

Take That earned the awards for British Live Act and British Single for its song "Shine," Kate Nash grabbed the prize for British Female Solo Artist and Mark Ronson garnered the award for British Male Solo Artist.

Australian pop star Kylie Minogue won the gong for International Female Solo Artist and U.S. hip-hop artist Kanye West the prize for International Male Solo Artist.
