"I have apologized to my family for my mistakes," Clemens said. HOUSTON -- U.S. baseball star Roger Clemens, responding to tabloid stories linking him to extramarital affairs, acknowledges making mistakes in his personal life. The seven-time Cy Young Award winner told The Houston Chronicle he is sorry for the mistakes but said the articles contain many false accusations and errors, the newspaper reported Monday. Last week, the New York Daily News cited anonymous sources in a story alleging that Clemens began an improper relationship with country singer Mindy McCready when she was 15. "Nothing could be further from the truth," Clemens said. "This relationship has been twisted and distorted far beyond reality. It is just one of many, many accusations that are utterly false." The Daily News also reported that Clemens had extramarital relationships with two other women, including the former wife of pro golfer John Daly. "I have apologized to my family for my mistakes," Clemens said. |
