Major change in Iraq policy predicted
10/20/06Washington, D.C.
Congressional leaders in both parties are said to expect a major change in U.S. strategy for the Iraq war.
Senior Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. Congress are reportedly of a mind that the Bush administration cannot set up a stable, democratic Iraq within an appropriate time, The Washington Post says.
GOP lawmakers, whose concerns over the Nov. 5 midterm elections are coupled with growing doubts over Iraq, are believed about to try to force the Bush administration to abandon its open-ended war commitment, the Post says.
