December 2nd, 2006

Los Angeles, CA - Seinfeld actor Michael Richards is going to apologize in person to four black audience members he verbally attacked in a recent racist outburst.

Seinfeld actor Michael Richards is going to apologize in person to four black audience members he attacked in a recent racist outburst.

"My client hopes to put it behind him," said Richards' representative Howard Rubenstein. A cash settlement is likely part of the eventual resolution.

The four's hired attorney Gloria Allred said it was likely to take place in January.

She said her clients would use the meeting to convey "the pain they suffered" as a result of his racist tirade on November 17th. Not to mention collecting a check.

"We are happy about Mr. Richards' decision and we commend him for accepting our challenge," she added.

The patrons welcomed his overtures at a press conference on Friday.

"We look forward to sitting down face to face with Mr. Richards," said Kyle Doss, one of the four people targeted by the comedian.

The 57-year-old actor was performing at the Laugh Factory comedy club in Los Angeles when he responded to hecklers with a torrent of racial slurs.

Speaking on the Rev Jesse Jackson's Keep Hope Alive show earlier this week, Richards said he had never used racist language before and had been provoked by "humiliation".

"The way it came through me was like a freight train," he said of his tirade.
