San Francisco, CA - Inmates at the California Institution for Men in Chino rioted for four hours yesterday in one of California's largest such uprisings in years.

Inmates at the California Institution for Men in Chino rioted for four hours yesterday in one of California's largest such uprisings in years.

The violence got so bad that prison officials had to call the local police for help.

Guards used pepper spray and rubber bullets to finally stop the fighting.

The riot apparently stemmed from a fight between two inmates that left 51 prisoners injured.

Officials told the Associated Press that at least 24 inmates were hospitalized, some with serious injuries.

The prison is under a lockdown and will not admit any more inmates until an investigation into the riot and its cause is complete.
