Monster truck crashes into crowd

DeKalb, IL - A monster truck giving a demonstration at a local Napa Auto Parts store crashed into a crowd of onlookers in DeKalb, Illinois on Thursday.

A witness estimated at least 100 people were watching the truck perform tricks on Lincoln Highway in downtown DeKalb.

Hospital officials say nine people were taken to the Kishwaukee Community Hospital by ambulance. All were in fair condition.

"There was just this sound of steel crunching," DeKalb resident James Vesely said. "I ran over to see if it hit anybody's car, and I saw a woman and a little girl around 3 years old lying on the ground with dirt on them."

Eyewitness Dave Miller said the truck was doing a jump and crushing cars before it lost control and crashed through the crowd.
