Remy Ma convicted of assault, attempted coercion
Rapper Remy Ma has been convicted on two counts of first-degree assault, attempted coercion, and criminal possession of a weapon at her trial.
The charges stem from a 2007 incident in which Remy shot a friend of hers after a fight over $3,000 in cash stolen from Remy's purse.
Remy was not found guilty of gang assault and witness tampering, among the nine total charges she faced.
Justice Rena Uviller ordered her jailed without bail while awaiting her April 23 sentencing.
Remy Ma was nominated for a Grammy as part of the Terror Squad for the 2004 hit "Lean Back." She also has appeared on recordings with Busta Rhymes and Eminem.
The rapper was acquitted of witness tampering and gang assault, charges related to a Bronx nightclub attack on the boyfriend of a witness who ultimately testified against her.
Remy could face up from five to 25 years in prison at sentencing.
