May 13, 2009 Coast Guard delivers pumps, helps save fishing vessel off KodiakFrom a Coast Guard press release:A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Kodiak delivered two dewatering pumps to the crew of the 50-foot fishing vessel Jaime Marie around 7:50 a.m. who reported they were taking on water 44 miles west of Kodiak. ![]() Galen Barbour and William Schauff, residence unknown, reported that they did not have any dewatering pumps on board and were in need of assistance. The Coast Guard immediately issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and launched the helicopter crew. The good Samaritan crew on the fishing vessel Halycon, responded to the UMIB and was on scene to assist. The Jaime Marie crew reported to the Coast Guard they had the space dewatered after the pumps were deliverd at 8:10 a.m. and were en route to return to Kodiak. The Jaime Marie is a commercial seiner homeported in Kodiak. No injuries were reported.
