Re: Letter from Patrick Priestley 9-5-06 "Palin and Ethics."
Todd Palin is a United Steel Union worker assigned to BP for 18 years currently seperating oil, gas and water in one of the slope facilities. Mr. Palin is a blue collar, grease-under-the-nails union worker and pays his mandatory union dues along with all his co-workers.

Mr. Palin is not in charge of production for BP as you suggest. That title and responsibility is held by a BP non-union Manager.

We think the "Priestley" thing for you to do in this case is investigate this matter fully and write a new letter to the AlaskaReport delineating your updated findings.

Sarah Palin and Ethics
Sarah preaches ethics reform. How much can she really offer if her husband is in charge of production at a field on the North slope. Have him resign now to make her campaign truly one of ethics reform.

Gas Cap Bill Vanishes
I read with interest about the elimination of the gasoline price cap and the reasoning for its elimination in Hawaii. Not just because it was a pilot program that the entire country was closely examining. Not just because it was the first of many necessary steps to begin the process of regulating the oil and gasoline companies. But my primary interest was with the untimely death of a significant concept. I am referring to the authorization that the Federal Trade Commission received to investigate and prosecute for price gouging.

With the FTC's authority in effect combined with the price cap on gasoline Hawaii had a win win situation. On the one hand the price of gasoline could not exceed a predetermined limit. While on the other hand any attempt to dramatically raise the price without justifiable reasoning would be prosecuted. I wonder who paid who to lose that program before it had a chance to take hold in the rest of the country.

Politicians In the Rabbit Hole
Ray Metcalfe, founder of the Alaska Republican Moderate Party - and political watchdog on the shenanigans of Ben Stevens - has just filed as a Democrat to run for the U.S. House seat held by Don Young. Blink! It's o.k. you can open your eyes again. It's true. And not half as strange as what else has happened.

Despite carrot loads of bad press on his "consulting fees" (on the same page in our abridged dictionary as "corruption"), Ben has put his name back in the Republican hat in Anchorate District N - which of course makes me think of a wrestler who got thrown out of the ring, but Big Oil then picked him back up and said "Get back in the ring, Boy! Your tag team member Frank is already standing there! We'll throw money into the TV booth to make sure you get some actions shots. And smile will ya, boy, that drooping jaw is looking mighty defeated."

But two Republican rabbits were already in the district N hat, Norm Rokeberg and Lesil McGuire. From the Republican point of view it must look like they have been locking in a "win" -- but from Ray's camp, it must look a lot different. Two of the three can't win, right!

By turning up the heat on Ben with a recall effort, bribery charge filings and all other manner of political responsibility during the past year, and due to the threes-not-a-crowd counter-tactic, it seems that Metcalfe has effectively just defeated two of his three long-term "rivals" in the Legislature. And he never had reload his blunderbuss with more political rock salt. Well done!

Now, if Ben does try to shift over to also run for the US House (leaving his placeholders to battle it out locally) well who would he be facing except good old Elmer F. Metcalfe with his political shotgun in hand, standing over the rabbit hole. Again, two out of three, most likely.

Proposed gas contract isn't in best interest of Alaska
From the Fairbanks News-Miner 5/21/06

Frank-ly, He must be joking!
I have wanted to write a letter now, but I have been waiting for the absurd meter on the Murkowski Administration to level off a bit, I now think there is no end in sight.

Poison Pill?!
Political Theater!?
Due Diligence!
Greater View then JUST Alaska, its Washington's view?

The Irony of these, and many more statements, is only matched by the arrogance of this Governors Administration.

When Bill Walker said on Tuesday that he was outraged, my family, friends and I echoed his statement.

There are Representatives on both sides of the aisle that are doing their earnest best, to fight for the people of Alaska. They have my Family's gratitude, our respect and sympathy. Negotiating the gas line contract has them swimming against a rip tide, while the Administration tries to bind and blindfold them. Thank Goodness that there are those who are apt at honest evaluation! God help those that are climbing aboard the railroad to ruin express.

Eric Croft, stated it clearly when he said, " Stand up, or Roll over!" and "Tell the Truth, Trust the People!" We are all fortunate to have him fighting for us.

Johnny Ellis is also a Rep. of the People. Here's hoping House and Senate take his advice, and ask themselves, if any of this passes The Hammond Test.

Thanks Hollis French, for bringing a matter to the court, that defies legal logic.

Thank You Nancy Dahlstrom for keeping your promises.

Ralph Seekins and Con Bunde have earned our gratitude for saving the day in the 17th hour. I shudder to think how close we came to being totally 'Gamed'!

Imagine how much good our elected could do in an environment that values working for the greater good, and not greed. Tom Irwin and his equally courageous staff could possibly come back to where they are needed most.

May I also point out Gov Murkowski's blatant distain for lawyers, expressed repeatedly on a recent radio debate. There are many of us that are guilty of a lawyer joke or two, but the tone of the Governor's voice denoted more. A disregard for law, and accountability, maybe?

I believe that Sarah Palin is the Party's brightest Hope, Godsend, and Salvation.

The very best course for Alaska's People, and vast resources is her motivation for seeking office.

I urge all my fellow Registered Undeclareds, and any fence sitters, to get informed on. palinforgovenor.com. She is totally approachable, if you want to voice concerns. If you support her, then be sure to be registered to vote in the Aug. 22 R Primary!

We all know that Alaska is a red state, so use your vote wisely; she is as elect-able as she is honest.

She has proven herself to be the picture of Integrity, raised the bar, even.

If she had wanted to be rich and famous, she could have taken her Degree in Journalism and headed for the big city. Let us all vote together, old, young, rural, city, red, blue, green, pink and purple to send a clear united message that enough is enough!

Sarah supports a FAIR comparison of ALL the Gas line project proposals that SHOULD be on the table, as did Former Governors Hickel and Hammond.

Jimi Hendrix is quoted as saying. Knowledge speaks and Wisdom listens. To paraphrase something Sarah said at the recent All Alaskan's Rally, "When you speak your mind and show your spine, you give others the backbone to speak and defend their beliefs as well." Speak! Hopefully, they will listen.
